Major Project 1
INSTRUCTIONS
Task 1 : Proposal Development
Week 1
In the lecture of the first week, the teacher divided us into several classes
according to our major and asked us to work on this project in groups of four,
and only team up with our major and have learned at least two specialisation.
The next day, in Ms. Vitayaa's class, I formed a team with LIN CHENYI, QIAN
GUIYI, and WU ZIYANG. On February 10th, I had a meeting with CHENYI and GUOYI,
where we decided on three small directions and planned to present them to Ms.
Vitayaa in Wednesday's class, hoping she could give us some feedback. We also
created a simple slide deck before Wednesday to present to Ms. Vitayaa, and
made a basic mood board on MIRO.
We thought about projects in three directions:
- Tea culture
- Oriental perfume
- Noise visualization
GUOYI and I completed the 1 to 7 pages of this slide together.
This is a theme we most want to work on.
WEEK 2: Proposal Development
Week 2
On Wednesday, we presented our idea to Ms.Vitiyaa. After receiving the
detailed feedback from Ms.Vitiyaa, we began to try to do more research. We
started to carry out the research according to the direction of Oriental
perfume. We also analyzed three perfume brands, established our USP, etc., and
set our goals.
WEEK 3: Proposal Development
In this week, I wrote Competitor 03, SWOT analysis, USP, graphic design Goals
and descriptions, and key Objectives.

USP
Week 3
In the early stages of perfume research, our brand goals were not clear, so
Ms.Vitiyaa asked us why we were making this perfume, there were so many gaps
in the market, why does it have to be a perfume?
So we did some deep thinking outside of class. Finally, we established the
core goal of the brand: to create a perfume brand whose main function is to
relieve insomnia and anxiety.
This brand concept not only focuses on the olfactory enjoyment of fragrance,
but also emphasizes its practical role in emotional healing and physical and
mental relaxation. Ms.Vitiyaa says it will be better than before, and
suggests we need to find a lot of research data to support this direction.
WEEK 3: Final proposal
In this slide, I give an Overview and Project objectives: Project Goals, Scope
& Deliverables.

Then we decided and started to digitize the drafts, and for consistency, we
tried to do it in the same style.
And then I made the box, and I found the knife plate first, and I made the
dimensions. Start designing in ILLUSTRATOR.
In the sixth week, with the help of Ms.Vitiyaa and Ms.anis, the logo was
changed to make the logo more perfect, so I re-put the logo into the
design drawing, and kept the same flower fragrance and design for the
series of products, and different series used different colors.
Week 7
This is the slide of our task 3 presentation, which was jointly completed
by Lin Chenyi and me
Below is the interactive pdf file of our brand guide. Wu Ziyang was
responsible for the font color, text and image alignment, and layout,
while I was responsible for filling in the content.
Next is a pdf of exactly what each of us did. Everyone's job is
different.

Feedback:
WEEK 1:
The first week is a lecture. We need to group ourselves according to our
majors and work together in groups of four to complete this task.
WEEK 2:
We have provided three directions. Ms.Viitiyaa said that the direction of
"Lingnan Lion Dance x Tea culture" that we want to do is relatively limited,
because there are only six kinds of lion dance, so we have fewer directions to
expand, and if we need to introduce new flavors in the future, we may lack
inspiration, and the design of packaging will be relatively small, which is
too easy to be limited.
WEEK 3:
In the third week, Ms.Vitiyaa said that we have not clearly defined the core
goal of the brand, and we need to determine why, and we need to think deeply
about why we want to create this brand and what the meaning of the existence
of the brand is. It is not enough that there are no independent Oriental
perfumes on the market, as the gap in the market is often large. We need to
find the core problem that the brand wants to solve and why we do this and not
something else.
WEEK 4:
Last week we confirmed that the brand was born mainly to relieve the problem
of sleep, anxiety and stress. We're a little slow this week, and we're taking
too long to get the questionnaires out. We need to confirm the logo as soon as
possible, and then speed up the design of the items. Meanwhile, after
Ms.Vitiyaa's feedback, we made some minor modifications to the questionnaire.
WEEK 5:
Since each of us made several logos, we asked Ms.Vityaa to choose one for us
this Wednesday. At the same time, our progress is too slow, there is no
packaging design.
WEEK 6:
This week, each of us provided design drawings and mockup, Ms. Vitiyaa and
Ms. Anis looked at our products and gave a lot of feedback. There is no big
problem with our design, but we need to make it clear that our perfume,
candle, essential oil and other products have one flavor, one flower and one
color, otherwise it will be too confusing. People won't know what we're
saying. We can also add things like toiletries. The product line must be
unified, and the brand must be as consistent as possible.
WEEK 7:
The seventh week was presentation. In the class, Ms.Vitiyaa and Ms. Anis
gave feedback. We must have a sample presentation and the logo of our
publicity class was used incorrectly.
However, we made changes immediately after the presentation, and our sample
display was also placed in slide.
REFLECTIONS
Experience:
The lesson of this class is that we have to find good teammates and team
members. But how to deal with the relationship is also we must learn, you
may face a lot of irresponsible people, but you still need to learn how to
get along.
At the same time, this class covers many important areas that we have
learned, and I have gained a lot of experience. We had to adapt a lot of
things to the brand.
Observations:
In this class, I analyze and understand design/branding and packaging from
different angles, we analyze different brands, and study how we do a brand,
why we do this, and not other. A successful brand is not just an accident,
it certainly has a part that can sustain it, and this is the part we can
learn from.
Findings:
I find that great work is not accidental, but the result of continuous
optimization and iteration. Behind each success, is always closely related
to its other products, not only alone, should be supporting, successful.
At the same time, I found that this team formation strengthened my
leadership ability, how to coordinate the whole team, how to assign homework
each time, how to communicate effectively, and how to look at problems from
different angles.
